UCONN CARES 2024: Dignity Grows Packing Party with UConn School of Social Work

UConn Cares 2024: Volunteer Event to Assemble Hygiene Totes for Greater Hartford

Saturday, April 27, 2024

10-12pm

Hartford Times Building, Room 208
10 Prospect St, Hartford, CT 06103

Join us to assemble tote bags filled with hygiene and menstrual products for distribution across Greater Hartford social service agencies, including UConn’s Husky Harvest food pantries.

We’ll explore how our Hartford-based nonprofit actively engages the community in supporting neighbors affected by Period Poverty through grassroots fundraising, conversations, and hands-on tote assembly.

Participants will gain insight into our network of local partnerships with schools, libraries, food pantries, domestic violence shelters, health clinics and more, ensuring that the totes assembled by volunteers reach those in need in every corner of Greater Hartford.

Each $10 donation provides a month’s supply of 6 hygiene items, along with 2 full packages of period products, often benefiting the direct recipient and additional family members.

In addition to donating your time, please consider a monetary donation to help fund the totes for our UConn Cares Packing Party!

ABOUT DIGNITY GROWS

Over 35% of Americans cannot afford monthly menstrual hygiene necessities, resulting in chronic absenteeism, job loss and health issues.

Dignity Grows is here to make a difference in Hartford and beyond…

Based in Hartford, Dignity Grows is the national nonprofit leader in the fight against ‘Period Poverty,’ a debilitating, often overlooked form of health inequity. The Dignity Grows Hartford Chapter provides free menstrual and comprehensive hygiene necessities for those in need. Annually, our signature Dignity Grows Totes – each containing a full month supply of 8 essential items, including 2 packages of period products – empower tens of thousands of neighbors across the region.

The Dignity Grows Hartford Chapter is the penultimate source for supporting Connecticut neighbors in need of hygiene supplies to live their lives free from interruption and burden.
